Police have rescued the school student who was abducted from her home at Gunaigachh union of Kurigram’s Ulipur Upazila on Thursday.
However, they could not arrest the abductor and her alleged rapist Sohel Rana and others involved in the abduction yet.
The girl was rescued from Ulipur Upazila Parishad premises on Saturday evening, said Sub-inspector Anisur Rahman of Ulipur Police Station.
Anisur, also investigation officer of the case filed over the abduction, said that on information, he went to the upazila parishad compound and rescued her.
Asked how she was rescued, the SI said nothing could be disclosed now for the sake of investigation, adding that efforts are being made to arrest the accused involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father alleged that Nur Alam, the abductor’s father, had handed over his daughter to the police but the police were not arresting the accused for some reason.
“After my daughter was rescued, I went to the police station on Saturday night and talked to my daughter but she was traumatised. She could not speak and her physical condition has deteriorated,” he said.
“Something bad had happened with my daughter but the police are just playing a mysterious role,” he alleged.
Asked about the accused, Sohel Rana and others, Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moazzem Hossain said police could not arrest the accused even after conducting raids in different places but the accused will be arrested soon.
The girl would be handed over to a court after completing a medical test today. The court would decide after hearing her statement, the OC said.
According to police, the alleged rapist Sohel Rana, a 12th grade student, along with some men abducted the schoolgirl openly on Thursday evening.
The next day, the victim’s father lodged an abduction case accusing Sohel Rana and 11 others with Ulipur Police Station, police said.
Earlier, Sohel Rana had raped the girl. Her father filed a rape case with Ulipur Police Station on January 11 this year.
The charge-sheet of this case has been submitted with the court against Sohel Rana by the police.
