Cyber-VAWG is emerging as a global problem with serious implications. Online violence is one the form of gender-based violence. For so many decades women and girls are subjected to deliberate violence because of their gender. In present because of the growing digitalization in Bangladesh, online becomes another way to harass women. The growth of digital technology has generated the rate of online violence against women. Now it becomes an obstacle and posing a risk to the inclusive goal of sustainable development goals, that puts gender equality and women empowerment. Violence is now confined in online technology which is a supplement to physical violence as well.
Cyber violence takes many forms and ‘revenge porn’ is one of them. Revenge porn is a term of crime, by which people posted naked and compromising pictures with the consent of the person or ex-partners, for humiliate, or for an ill intention. Revenge porn websites often refuse the request of women to delete those pictures & videos, once it posted. In 2016, a schoolgirl in habiganj, she was the latest victim of this crime. at first, the perpetrator videotaped a sexual image of that girl without her knowledge and consent than blackmailing her to continuing to have sexual intercourse with him. And when she refused to do so, he released the videos. There are several crimes he has committed. The authority should address the crime of the highest severity and brought that perpetrator to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. But sadly most of the time women being blamed for the violence done to them. This kind of occurrence can be seen as a dangerous social weapon, used to inflict humiliation, shame and social repercussions on girls. When the violence they experience is exposed, they get a mortifying response from the society, and also women told not to engage or defend themselves, instead of to just ignore it.
